Studying over the Bank Holiday weekend?

Studying over the Bank Holiday weekend? We are open - check our opening hours at the link below.
We have been told that there will be some work going on in the foyer of the main building, on the flooring, but that this shouldn't affect Library access.

New Books

You may have noticed a new feature near the help desk on Level 1 - our new books display. Staff are selecting titles from the new books bought by the Library and putting them out on display.

You can borrow these books, so be the first to get your hands on them!

No Study Spaces???

The Library gets very busy at this time of year, so we thought it was a good time to remind you of some of the less busy places in the Library where you might be able to find a seat.

Study Spaces:
·        Levels 1 to 4 - Torrington Square side. There are spaces in front of the windows on each floor and also extra tables on levels 3 and 4. It’s usually less busy on the higher floors.
·        The area around the corner from the photocopiers.
·        The Reading Room. At the far end of Level 1, this room also has a mezzanine floor – the stairs are through a door in the corner. No laptops are allowed in this area.
·        If you don’t need a desk, try our free-standing chairs with book/tablet rests that are dotted around the Library.

Spaces with PCs:
·        Level 1 – Malet Street side.  In front of the windows and a cluster at the end.
·        Level 1 – Seminar Room. Opposite the photocopiers – open for students when not booked for teaching (timetable on door).
·        Level 1 – Room 109. This will be accessible from the Library from Tuesday 7th May to Sunday 16th June.
There are also computer rooms outside the Library on the 4th and 5th floors of the main building.

eJournals on VuFind

We are pleased to say that it is now possible to search for our eJournals via VuFind as well as via the eLibrary page on the library website. The records are very simple consisting of the title, the ISSN where avaialble, and a link to the page giving the holdings we have for a particular journal and the links to the publishers or providers.  If you want to see all 37348 titles click here

eJournals are clearly linked with the following icon as well as having the format label "eJournal".

We have also added a couple of other icons for books and print journals but you will still see our little owl for some material where we do not have a cover image.

There is one small issue which has resulted in two Institution labels appearing. This will sort itielf out on Sunday when the system is updated.

As usual we are happy to have any comments on this new development - use the feedback link on VuFind.
