We would like to wish all Library users a happy Christmas and we hope you have a good break. The Library is open until 11.45pm until Thursday 20th and then we will close at 4pm on Friday 21st.
Over the Christmas and New Year period, Birkbeck is officially closed but there are study rooms available:
These rooms will be available from 08.00 to 24.00 from 22nd December to 1st January. The Library re-opens at 8.30am on Wednesday 2nd January. Detailed opening hours are here http://www.bbk.ac.uk/lib/about/hours
Learn to use the Library's psychology and psychoanalytic resources
Our last Saturday workshop of the term is an introduction to PsycInfo, PsycArticles and PEPWeb, all of which are designed to help you find journal articles and books on your research topics in psychology and psychosocial studies. The workshop is on Saturday 8th December at 11.30am, and repeated at 2pm, and will last about 1.5hrs, with the chance for some hands-on practice.
With only a couple of weeks to go before the end of term here is an early update on our services over Christmas and the New Year.
Library will close at 16.00 on Friday 21 December 2012, and will
re-open at 08.30 on Wednesday, 2 January 2013. The College is also closed
during this time.
If you have borrowed or renewed a 3
week loan item recently you will have seen that these are not due for
return until after the Christmas closure. We will be issuing 1
week loan items over the holiday from 15 December. Once again we have
set up a rolling process of adjusting the due dates for items to avoid
everything being due on the same date when we re-open after the holiday. Requested items returned in the week before we close will be kept until after the holiday.
forget that you will be able to renew items throughout the holiday via
the library catalogue. We don't charge fines for closed days but please try
to keep your account up to date and remember to renew your items if you
are going to be away on holiday and out of reach of an Internet
connection. Our automated email notices will continue to run throughout
the holiday but in general these will only be messages about items that
have been requested so that you know to return them when due as they
won't be renewable.
we do try to monitor our systems (e.g. library catalogues, proxy server
etc) to make sure that they are available we do not monitor the
library's email accounts, so if you email us you should not expect a
reply until we re-open.
