Christmas arrangements 2011

Well that term went quickly! As usual here is a reminder about our arrangements over Christmas.

The Library will close at 16.00 on Thursday 22 December 2011, and will re-open at 08.30 on Tuesday, 3 January 2011. The College is also closed during this time.

If you have borrowed a 3 week loan item recently you will have seen that these are not due for return until after the Christmas closure. We will be issuing 1 week loan items over the holiday from 16 December. Once again we have set up a rolling process of adjusting the due dates for items to avoid everything being due on the same date. Requested items returned next week will be kept until we reopen.

Don't forget that you will be able to renew items throughout the holiday via the library catalogue. We don't charge fines for closed days but do try to keep your account up to date and remember to renew your items if you are going to be away on holiday and out of reach of an Internet connection. Our automated email notices will continue to run throughout the holiday but in general these will only be messages about items that have been requested so that you know to return them when due as they won't be renewable.

Whilst we do try to monitor our systems (e.g. library catalogues, proxy server etc) to make sure that they are available we do not monitor the library's email accounts, so if you email us you should not expect a reply until we re-open.

Please also be aware that IT Services have scheduled essential networking moves for the 29th and 30th December. During this work you may find that some or all services are unavailable, although we hope that the library catalogue will continue to be accessible. We will try to keep up to date with the works and post news on the web site and Twitter as appropriate, bearing in mind that we will not be here so will be dependent on access via the same networks! You can see the ITS bulletin about this here.

So, in the words of the old song, "Have yourselves a merry little Christmas"!
